Taekwon-do: Taekwon-do is a Korean martial art of unarmed self-defence. The literal translation means “the art of hand and foot”. Although Taekwon-do’s recognition occurred in relatively recent history, it consists of techniques, traditions, and philosophies that are deeply routed in ancient Korean history. Today, instructors of Taekwon-do do their best to maintain those traditions and philosophies while applying them to today’s modern world. Students gain not only the physical fitness and stamina to defend themselves, but the mental fitness of improved concentration and confidence. Taekwon-do is unique in that its techniques involve the use of physics, maximising the potential of a student, regardless of their physical characteristics. Young, old, short, weak, male or female, any student is capable of gaining the ability to defend themselves, and the confidence to apply that ability. Success is possible for anyone.
Our Taekwon-do programs are open to all ages from 4 upwards. Rank testing takes place approximately every three months, although speed of belt progression depends on the level of attendance. A minimum of 12 hours training is required at basic level to attend a rank testing. Ideal for those who are looking for a life-long positive change in both their physical and mental fitness. Will improve your ability to focus, deal with stress, and handle yourself with self-confidence, in addition to improved physical coordination, flexibility, strength, and skill.
